RETARDATION SUBSTRATE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

A retardation layer including multiple regions with different retardations can be manufactured easily.  A retardation substrate (10) comprises a substrate (110) and a solidified liquid crystal layer (130) facing one principal surface of the substrate.  The solidified liquid crystal layer (130) comprises multiple regions (130a to 130c), and the depolarization factors of the regions (130a to 130c) are each less than 5.0×10-4.  The difference between the maximum and minimum values of the depolarization factors obtained with respect to the regions (130a to 130c) is less than 2.0×10-4.
