<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent intrusion of water into the inside of a gas meter through an opening of an outer cover made of resin and covering the circumference of a case for a counter and an upper part of a case for an electronic control unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The gas meter comprises: a counter case 31 for airtightly housing a counter; a unit case for sealing and housing an electronic control unit below the case 31; and an outer cover 32 made of resin, being downwardly and backwardly opening, having a substantially rectangular shape and attached to cover the front face of the counter case 31 and the upper part of the unit case. A window 31a closed with a glass 31b is formed on the front face of the counter case 31. An opening 32a is formed on the front face 32c of the outer cover 32 at a position corresponding to the window 31a. A plurality of recess grooves 32d are formed at least on the upper and lower side parts of a peripheral part on the back face side of the opening 32a of the outer cover 32 in contact with a packing 40 attached between the back face of the cover 32 and the glass 31b upon attachment of the outer cover 32.
