<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering system capable of restraining transmission of reaction force from a road surface to a steering member. <P>SOLUTION: This electric power steering system 1 includes: a steering shaft 5 connected to a steering wheel 2; and an electric motor 4 for assisting steering. The steering shaft 5 includes an input shaft 18 and an output shaft 19 connected to each other free to relatively revolve through a torsion bar 17, and the electric motor 4 includes a hollow rotor 6 coaxially arranged with the steering shaft 5. The rotor 6 has first and second end parts 10, 11, and the output shaft 19 includes a first output shaft 28 fitted on the inner periphery of the first end part 10 of the rotor 6 and a second output shaft 29 fitted on the inner periphery of the second end part 11.
