PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display apparatus capable of making a user recognize features not displayed on a screen without reducing the visibility of a map. SOLUTION: By using the expression of straight lines 136a to 136g passing through out-of-range features and a reference point 131 and the length lmax and lb to lg of line segments 134a to 134g, the position and length of the line segments 134a to 134g on the display screen is determined. That is, the ling segments 134a to 134g are provided on straight lines 136a to 136g passing through the out-of-range features and the reference point 131 respectively, and the length of the line segments is relatively determined with the length of the line segment 134a indicating the reference feature 133a as a reference. Near the point at the intersection of the line segments 134a to 134g with the outer frame of the map display area 130, display labels 135a to 135g are created.
