PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve favorable reproduction of a color and a texture by using a coloring material and a gloss control material. SOLUTION: In this image processing apparatus, an image processing section 101 inputs image data including color separation data and gloss data of an image, and a gradation half tone processing section 103 generates a color signal by performing quantization processing of the color separation data. A gloss half tone processing section 105 generates a gloss signal by performing quantization processing of the gloss data of the image based on the color signal and the gloss data related to a recording medium, the coloring material and the gloss control material. A recording section 106 forms an image on the recording medium using the coloring material 107 and the gloss control material 108 based on the color signal and the gloss signal.
