<p>Starch hydrolysate with >=90 wt.% solubility in cold water and 1-6 dextrose equiv. is useful in food industry and esp. animal foods, for young newly-weaned calves and piglets. It is prepd. by liquefying starch, pref. maize starch, with alpha-amylase, pref. by heating aq. dispersion of alpha-amylase-contg. starch, pref. at pH 5-7, at 70-90 degrees C, until prod. has 1-6 dextrose equiv., subjecting it to superatmos. press. pref. in pressure vessel by raising temp. to 100-200 degrees C (100-150 degrees C) for 5-90 min., and spray-drying, opt. over a turntable, pref. in air-chamber with 150-200 degrees C air inlet temp. and 60-100 degrees air- and prod. -outlet temp.</p> |
