<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device which can suppress deterioration of foreign matter detection sensitivity due to a support member. <P>SOLUTION: A sensor body 45 having an electrically conductive detection electrode 56 is supported at the forward end portion 5a of a door panel 5 by the support member 46.
