摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine including a system containing a fuel reforming catalyst provided midway through an exhaust recirculation passage so as to be heat-exchangable with waste heat of the internal combustion engine, which generates a large amount of reformed gas while suppressing the deterioration of a fuel reforming catalyst. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A fuel reforming catalyst is provided to a reforming chamber 24 heat-exchangable with exhaust gas passing through an exhaust passage 14 of an engine 10. A part of exhaust gas in the exhaust passage 14 is taken out through an exhaust gas introduction passage 28 to be supplied to the reforming chamber 24. Fuel and water are respectively added in the exhaust gas passing through the exhaust gas introduction passage 28 from a fuel adding injector 30 and water adding injector 36. The reformed gas generated in the reforming chamber 24 is introduced in an intake passage 12 to be burned in a combustion chamber of the engine 10. A water supply amount from the water adding injector 36 is controlled according to the temperature of the fuel reforming catalyst detected by a temperature sensor 26.
