PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure wherein, when displaying map information properly in accordance with the actual distance, processing can be efficiently performed by a simple operation. SOLUTION: In a map display apparatus 10, an own vehicle position information receiving section 11 receives the present position information of a vehicle, and a map information acquisition section 12 acquires the map information. A latitude direction length calculation section 13 specifies a drawing object area in the acquired map information and, on the basis of latitude information and longitude information of a prescribed position in the drawing object area, calculates the proportion of the actual length in the latitude direction to the actual length in the longitude direction. Further, in accordance with this proportion, the latitude direction length calculation section 13 calculates the proportion of the length in the latitude direction so that the proportion of the actual length in latitude direction and that in longitude direction becomes 1:1 on the basis of the length in longitude direction. Then, a map information output section 15 adjusts the length in the latitude direction of the drawing area in the map information acquired by the map information acquisition section 12 on the basis of the calculated proportion of the length in latitude direction, and outputs the map information after the adjustment.
