METHOD, DEVICE, AND PROGRAM FOR OBJECTIVELY EVALUATING VIDEO QUALITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and precisely perform subjective quality evaluation when performing the subjective video quality evaluation to subjectively evaluate quality (subjective quality) that a person bodily feels by viewing video.

SOLUTION: Motion vectors and DCT coefficients, which exist inside the bitstream of a coded video and are parameters representing the differences in scenes; or, pixel information and encoding control information partially recovered from the bitstream of the coded video are used to objectively evaluate video quality. Consequently, it becomes possible to objectively evaluate video quality in a short period of time using an inexpensive computer, because computational effort of decoding into pixel information which requires an extremely large amount of computational effort can be saved as compared to doing an objective evaluation of video quality by using pixel information obtained by reconstructing the bitstream of the entire video.
