PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user how further a zoom-in/out operation is allowed when performing a power-varying operation of an electronic camera having an imaging optical system allowing the power-varying operation. SOLUTION: When the imaging optical system is set to a focal length at a wide angle end, a live image 202a is displayed in an image display part in a wide angle end display image size being a predetermined display image size (a lateral display image size is H and a longitudinal display image size is V). When the imaging optical system is set to a focal length F[mm] longer than the focal length W[mm] at the wide angle end, the display image size when displaying a live image 202b in the image display part is reduced to a value obtained by R=F/W, a lateral display image size≈H/R, and a longitudinal display image size≈V/R to display the live image, and an index 200 corresponding the wide angle end display image size is displayed in a superposed manner on the outside of the reduced live image 202b.
