The device (1) has a damping diaphragm (10) limiting a hydraulic medium pressure chamber (4) in a damping housing (2). The diaphragm is fastened to the housing using a cover (15), which is arranged on a side of the diaphragm turned away from the pressure chamber. A sealing element (24) i.e. O-ring, is fixed between the cover and the diaphragm. The cover has a circumferential groove (20) for the sealing element and connected with the housing in a material-fit manner. The cover and the housing are made of plastic, and the diaphragm is made of metal i.e. steel. An independent claim is also included for a hydraulic system comprising a master cylinder.
