The steam iron includes a control device 17 adapted to give an initial steam event through a soleplate 13, followed by a subsequent steam event of reduced flow rate and/or reduced volume. The iron includes a water tank 14 along with the heatable soleplate 13. The control device may separate initiation of the initial and subsequent steam events by a determinable time interval. The time interval may be determined by the output of a temperature sensor. The steam events may be a steam burst. The iron is also used in a method of steaming a steam iron on demand by providing an initial steam burst and a subsequent steam emission of reduced flow rate. |
