PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display constituted to restrain to the minimum a memory volume built in an LCD driver from increasing, while coping with even a case where a transfer speed of an image data to the LCD driver is not constant, and capable of coping with overdrive processing. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 1 includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel 2, and the LCD driver 3. The LCD driver 3 includes a display memory 12 for receiving the image data from an outside to be stored, a memory 13 for overdrive (OD), and an OD processing circuit 14. The OD processing circuit 14 generates a compressed image data, by compressing the image data read out from the display memory 12, and writes the generated compressed image data into the memory 13 for the OD. The OD processing circuit 14 executes the overdrive processing, based on the image data read out from the display memory 12 and the compressed image data read out from the memory 13 for the OD.
