An electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit is provided for use in an integrated circuit having a plurality of circuit blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, each block having one or more voltage supply pads Vdd1, Vdd2, Vdd3, Vdd4 and one or more ground pads Vss1, Vss2, Vss3, Vss4. The ESD protection circuit comprises a common voltage supply rail Vddcom for connection to the voltage supply pads of each of the plurality of circuit blocks and a common ground rail Vsscom for connection to the ground pads of each of the plurality of circuit blocks. The ESD protection circuit further comprises protective circuitry DD1-c, DD2-c, DD3-c, DD4-c for directing ESD energy on any supply or ground pad to the common ground rail. |
