PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk brake capable of suppressing an increase in cost of maintenance required for maintaining clonk preventive effect and brake squeal preventive effect. SOLUTION: A pair of brake pads 22 arranged on both sides of a disk D are supported slidably in the axial direction of the disk by a caliper body 1. A torque receiving surface 74a for receiving braking torque from the brake pad 22 when braking is formed in the caliper body 1. A space 82 is formed in part of the torque receiving surface 74a and an urging means 84 for urging the brake pad 22 in the circumference of the disk is provided in the space 82. When the brake pad 22 comes in contact with the torque receiving surface 74a on the side where the urging means 84 is provided, the urging means 84 has a gap in the disk circumference on the side of a contact portion 89, in contact with the brake pad 22, opposite to the brake pad 22.
