PURPOSE:To increase or decrease the contact pressure of the rollers in compliance with the increase or decrease of the transmission torque by such a construction that the center of rotation of either of driving and driven rollers can turn round a certain point which does not lie on the straight line connecting the rotational axes of the rollers. CONSTITUTION:When a torque is applied to a driving roller 1 in the direction as illutrated by the arrow, a friction force f is produced at the rolling face of the roller with respect to the following roller 2 in the direction as illustrated. In response to this torque, a reactive force F appears at the supporting point O2 of the following roller 2 in the longitudinal direction of the link 8, see the illustration. The force balancing condition gives the roller contact force N as N=f/SlN(alpha+beta). That is to say, the roller contact force N is produced automatically when a torque is applied to the driving roller 1. |
