PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a further high muffling effect by adopting a reasonable resonance chamber forming configuration in such a type of silencer that a divided resonance chamber for muffling is formed by dividing a wall-to-wall space of a double wall structure into small spaces. SOLUTION: In this silencer, air passage walls 3a and 3c of a ventilating passage 2 are formed in a double wall structure, and the wall-to-wall space between an inner wall 5 and an outer wall 6 in the double wall structure is divided into the plurality of small spaces in the air passage wall surface direction. The small spaces are allowed to communicate with the ventilating passage 2 through resonance ports 8a to 8d and 9a to 9d to form the divided resonance chambers 10a to 10d and 11a to 11d for muffling which are independent of each other. The wall-to-wall space is divided in such a state that a resonance chamber lateral row 10L can be formed so that the plurality of divided resonance chambers 10a can be arranged in the circumferential direction of the air passage of the ventilating passage 2. The resonance frequencies f1 of the plurality of divided resonance chambers 10a to 10d forming the resonance chamber lateral row 10L are made equal to each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
