A method for simultaneously photographing a moving picture and a static picture in a portable terminal is provided to photograph a moving picture continuously without stopping the photographing and photograph a static picture of high resolution at the same time even though photographing a static picture is requested when photographing a moving picture. If photographing a moving picture is requested(S202), the moving picture is photographed(S204) by resolution corresponding to moving picture photographing(S203). If photographing a static picture is requested, photographing a moving picture is continued and the static picture is photographed by resolution corresponding to static picture photographing(S206).
