The method involves determining the wheel speed of the drive wheels with a sensor arrangement. A slip of a drive wheel is determined from the wheel speed and a corresponding slip signal is emitted. The displacement of the hydraulic motor belonging to drive wheel and the torsional moment is reduced after stipulation of the slip signal. An independent claim is also included for a hydrostatic vehicle drive.
