<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free piezoelectric ceramic which is capable of increasing the amount of charge generated per unit pressure of 1 N by utilizing the direct piezoelectric effect, shows a small deviation of charge generated at temperatures ranging from -40 to 200°C from that generated at 25°C and has a high relative density, and a piezoelectric element. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric ceramic which is used comprises 100 pts.mass bismuth layered compound represented by the compositional formula: Bi<SB>4</SB>Ti<SB>3</SB>O<SB>12</SB>-xä(1-y)(Sr<SB>1</SB>-<SB>a</SB>Ca<SB>a</SB>)TiO<SB>3</SB>-yBiFeO<SB>3</SB>} (wherein x, y and a satisfy the relations: 1.3≤x≤1.75, 0.005≤y≤0.1 and 0.4≤a≤0.6, respectively) as a main component and 0.05-2.0 pts.mass Mn calculated in terms of MnO2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
