<p>The present invention relates to a prokaryotic cell which does not naturally produce butanol, but which has been made capable of producing butanol by genetic modification of said microorganism and to a process for the production of butanol by fermenting the prokaryotic cell in a suitable fermentation medium according to the present invention.</p>
