A method and an apparatus for decoding right object, and a method and an apparatus for sharing contents using the same are provided to share encoded contents by transmitting a DRM(Digital Rights Management) agent between devices with different DRM systems from one another. An apparatus for sharing contents includes a receiver(540), a DRM(Digital Rights Management) agent driver(510), a transmitter(560), and a contents decoder(550). The receiver receives a DRM agent including codes for decoding right object from a device. The DRM agent driver generates an encode key for encoding the right object and a decode key for decoding the right object by driving the received DRM agent, decodes the right object using the decode key, and extracts a contents decoding key, which is used to decode contents included in the decoded right object. The transmitter transmits the generated encode key to the device. The contents decoder decodes the encoded contents received from the device using the extracted contents decoding key.
