Fabrics are rendered less liable to slip by treatment with an aqueous solution containing a trivalent metal or metals, phosphoric acid radicle and oxalic acid. The acidity of the solution may be reduced by adding ammonia. Preferred metals are iron, aluminium and chromium. The solution may be prepared by dissolving the phosphate of the trivalent metal in phosphoric acid and water, or water soluble metallic salts and a water soluble phosphate may be added to the oxalic acid solution. In examples: (1) linen fabric is treated at room temperature with ferric phosphate dissolved in oxalic acid solution, squeezed and dried on cylinders. (2) A viscose fabric is treated at 50 DEG C. with a solution containing chromic sulphate, oxalic acid and disodium phosphate to which dilute ammonia is added. (3) Aluminium phosphate dissolved in oxalic acid solution may also be used.
|
