PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing useless power consumption while maintaining the fixation performance of an image on a paper. SOLUTION: Whether the image forming apparatus is in a standby mode or a normal mode is judged by a printer controller 34. If the image forming apparatus is in the standby mode, the temperature detected by a temperature sensor 44 as a reference temperature when a printing job is input and a paper is picked up is set lower than that in the normal mode.
