PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC power supply unit which can reduce power consumption by suppressing energy loss as much as possible by a relatively simple arrangement, and to provide a refrigerator equipped with that DC power supply unit. SOLUTION: The DC power supply unit comprises a DC power supply circuitαoutputting a DC voltage being applied to a predetermined load 20 and a control section 7 through capacitors 2 and 52 of predetermined capacities, and conduction switching means 8 and 9 performing switching between a conduction on state performing conducting from an external AC power supply G to the DC power supply circuitαand conduction off state not performing that conduction according to a control command from the control section 7. The control section 7 judges predetermined switching conditions of the conduction on state and the conduction off state and controls the conduction switching means 8 and 9 depending on the judgment result.
