PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antistatic agent imparting excellent permanent antistaticity to a thermoplastic resin with high productivity without impairing its appearance, in view of the problem involved in conventional antistatic agents that, after polymerization, when the resultant polymer is extruded from an extruder and cut into pellets, a cutting trouble occurs, leading to declining in the polymer's productivity. SOLUTION: The antistatic agent comprises a hydrophilic block copolymer with a surface resistivity of 1×10<SP>6</SP>to 1×10<SP>13</SP>Ωand an ionic surfactant(B) having a heat of crystallization of 2-100 mJ/mg at the crystallization peak temperature as determined by differential scanning calorimetry.
