<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate type compressor which exhibits excellent durability, while including no lead. <P>SOLUTION: The swash plate type compressor 1 has: a housing 10 forming a cylinder bore 22 and a crankcase 15 on the inside; a piston 23 stored in the cylinder bore 22 and partitioning a compression space 24 in the cylinder bore 22; a driving shaft 16 driven by an external driving source E and rotatably supported by the housing 10; and a swash plate 8 arranged in the crankcase 15 and converting rotary motion of the driving shaft 16 into reciprocating motion of the piston 23 via a shoe 25 abutting on one's own front-rear surfaces. The swash plate 8 is composed of a first swash plate 18 and a second swash plate 51. The first swash plate 18 and the second swash plate 51 have first and second swash plate side sliding layers 181 and 511 formed by flame spraying, by including copper and graphite, without including lead, for constituting the surface abutting on the shoe 25.
