<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rental system or the like which enables a user to easily rent a DVD etc. at any time. <P>SOLUTION: A server 1 receives article information selected by the user, from a loaning/returning device 3 and retrieves article management information stored in a storage device to determine an article selected by the user can be loaned or not and receives a telephone number of the user to acquire credit card information of the user and inquires of a server 2 whether a credit amount can be secured or not, and the server 1 transmits an instruction to loan the article, to the device 3 and stores the loan date when the credit amount can be secured and the article can be loaned. The server 1 receives return information including a return date, from the device 3 and retrieves the article management information to determine whether the article can be returned or not and calculates a loan period from the loan date and the return date in response to determining that the article can be returned, and calculates a rental fee on the basis of the loan period and transmits the rental free to the server 2 as settlement information and then transmits an instruction to release the credit amount, to the server 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
