PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a notification system, and a terminal device, a main controller, a backup unit, a notification method, a program and a recording medium for the notification system which can perform notification and by which security is increased even when the controller is broken. SOLUTION: When the main controller at a house A detects input of the ID number and an abnormality detecting signal (SP1-SP3), it determines whether communication with the outside world is possible (SP4). If communication is impossible, it accesses the main controller at a house B, outputs warning information based on the abnormality detecting signal and contact information of a resident of the house A to an internet connection through a router and a public phone line at the house B and informs the alarm information to a portable telephone of the resident who is out by email (SP16).
