<p>A light source device (10) has a discharge lamp (1) in which within the discharge vessel there is a pair of opposed electrodes (13,14), a concave reflector (2) which has an ellipsoidal front reflector part (22) which is provided with a light exit opening, and a spherical reflector part (24) which borders the back end of the ellipsoidal front reflector part, is improved in that the middle between the electrodes (13,14) of the discharge lamp is arranged with respect to the concave reflector (2) such that the middle is located in front of a virtual plane which includes the boundary region between the ellipsoidal front reflector part (22) and the spherical reflector part (24). The concave reflector can also have an ellipsoidal rear reflector part (26) which borders a back end of the spherical reflector part (24).</p> |
