<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumption current of a camera in such a state as not to perform communication connection, and to allow a user to easily understand the state of the camera. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic camera stops feeding power to an interface circuit when a connector cover is closed. The electronic camera feeds power to the interface circuit (S103) when the connector cover opens from the above state, and displays a message that the camera is in a communicable state to an LCD monitor device.
