PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera equipped with a vibration-proof function which is controllable to be executed only when it is effective. SOLUTION: A digital camera is provided with a shake detection circuit 36 for detecting the shake of the digital camera, and a vibration-proof driving circuit 38 for canceling the shake detected by the driving of a CCD 24 so as to prevent the blur of a subject image caused by the shake of the digital camera. A control part 12 sets an upper limit shutter speed value (Tv) concerning the shutter speed of the electronic shutter of the CCD 24 in accordance with the focal distance of a photographic lens 30 being a zoom lens. The longer the focal distance is, the higher the upper limit shutter speed becomes, and the longer the focal distance is, the larger the upper limit shutter speed value (Tv) becomes. Then, shake correction is performed only when the actual shutter speed value (Tv) is smaller than the upper limit shutter speed value (Tv) and the actual shutter speed is lower than the upper limit shutter speed.
