PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flaw detection device capable of inspecting simply a wider range of a part corresponding to the direct underneath of a side member of an annular plate of a tank. SOLUTION: The flaw detection device 100 includes a transmitter 112 for propagating a plate wave along a bottom surface part 520 of the tank 500, and a receiver 113 for receiving the plate wave propagated along the bottom surface part 520 of the tank 500 and entering from a prescribed direction. The tank 500 is inspected by using the flaw detection device 100 and by a tank inspection method described below. A search probe 110 equipped with the transmitter 112 and the receiver 113 is installed on a position separated as long as a prescribed distance from the side member 511 on a collar part 520B of the bottom surface part 520, and the search probe 110 is rotated along the surface direction of the bottom surface part 520, and a range where the plate wave propagated at least from the block part 520A side through a part corresponding to the direct underneath of the side member 511 can be received is inspected.
