<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle drive unit that can recover a grip quickly even if wheels slip. <P>SOLUTION: When the wheels are in a slip state or when the slip state is likely to occur, angular velocity W of the wheels is changed by pulsating a torque applied to the wheels so as to change the slip ratio S close to a slip ratio at which a friction coefficient becomes maximum, and thus, the average of the friction coefficient μ is enlarged and an average of a vehicle driving force F generated by the wheels is enlarged. Since the vehicle driving force is enlarged, the vehicle is accelerated and is easily gripped. Furthermore, when the vehicle is in a grip state or traveling at high speed, vibrations and noises are suppressed by eliminating the torque pulsation or making small the fluctuation width of the torque pulsation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
