PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strain-measuring system using an FBG which is suitable for the strain measurement of a construction which is subject to frequent vibrations and which does not have moving parts. SOLUTION: A light signal from a wide-band pulsed light source 6 is passed through an optical fiber 1. The optical signal reflected from a strain measuring FBG 8 is passed through an optical circulator 7 and is then divided into two via a 1×2 optical connector 9. One optical signal is detected by a photodetector 11, as it is without being processed. The other optical signal is passed through a chirped FBG 10 and is then detected by the photodetector 11. By passing the light signal through the chirped FBG 10, the optical intensity thereof is changed according to the wavelength. By comparing the intensity of these two optical signals, the wavelength of the optical signal reflected from the strain measuring FBG 8 is determined by calculations and the strain of the structure is measured.
