<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection terminal of an optical fiber and its connection method, with which cost is reduced and by which reliability of a transmission system as a whole can be improved by suppressing varying components that adversely affect the optical transmission characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber 20 with a coating 21 is inserted into a guide 31 hole and fixed, so that a process for removing the coating 21 can be eliminated and that cost reduction can be attained, by preventing damage to a glass part, when the coating 21 is removed. In addition, since the core 23 of the connection end face 22 is retreated 5-50μm from the connection end face to make non-PC connection, there is no need of pressurizing the connection end faces 22 to each other, preventing deterioration or deformation caused by the pressurizing force during a long period, and thereby improving long-term reliability. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
