PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus wherein a first holder is arranged so that a camera shake arising at photographing may be effectively corrected, in the photographing apparatus including a bending optical system. SOLUTION: In the photographing apparatus, the first holder 10,041 is arranged so as to move in the first optical axis direction of the bending optical system 1,000 where the object light incident through an objective lens 1,001 along the first advancing optical axis is reflected by a prism 1,002 in a direction along a second optical axis extending in a vertical direction, and then, an image is formed on a CCD solid-state imaging element 110. By arranging the first holder 10,041 so that it may move in a direction where the influence of the camera shake more strongly appears, the first holder 10,041 which holds only the correcting lens is driven with good responsiveness so as to cancel the detected camera shake in accordance with the camera shake detected by an angular velocity sensor.
