A hinge module for a two way slide open type portable terminal and the portable terminal are provided to implement goods which can be slidably opened/closed in left and right directions as well as in up and down directions, thereby constructing an optimally-classified input/output system in communication terminals such as a portable phone, a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant), a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) service and a PMP(Personal Multimedia Player) and so on. In a hinge module(300) for a two way slide open type portable terminal for combining a main body(100) with a cover(200) so that the main body(100) can slide up, down, left and right on the cover(200) to be opened/closed, the hinge module(300) comprise the followings: a mount plate(320) fixed to the cover(200) or the main body(100); and an expansion bar(330) which connects the mount plate(320) with one of the main body(100) or the cover(200) to which the mount plate(320) is not fixed, and is expandable and has a tendency to expand.
