PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication apparatus in which improvement in efficiency of joint work can be attained by constructing a device for enabling a party to recognize the intention of a user. SOLUTION: In an image communication apparatus 1, an instruction input section 11 inputs operation instruction information for a graphic to be displayed and display necessity information indicating whether or not said graphic is to be displayed. A transmission/reception section 15 transmits the operation instruction information and display necessity information inputted by the instruction input section 11 to an image communication apparatus at another spot and receives operation instruction information and display necessity information from the image communication apparatus at the other spot. A graphic display section 14 displays a graphic corresponding to the display necessity information if the display necessity information indicates "to display", but does not display the graphic corresponding to the display necessity information if the display necessity information indicates "not to display".
