A drying apparatus and an ink-jet image forming apparatus using the same are provided to prevent lowering of the image quality by drying ink with the drying apparatus having a paper discharging function. A drying apparatus includes a drying tub(161), an auxiliary tank(166), and a pumping unit. Both ends of the drying tub are closed and the interior of the drying tub is empty so as to be pipe-shaped. A plurality of through-holes are formed on the circumferential surface of the drying tub. The auxiliary tank surrounds the drying tub with exposing a predetermined area of the drying tub so that the drying tub can make contact with a paper in the widthwise direction of the paper. The pumping unit sucks air from the auxiliary tank.
