PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for precisely estimating a tire deformation amount by enhancing detection accuracy on a change in Barkhausen noise caused by stress. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave is radiated to a sensor 11 made of a ferromagnetic material and stuck on the interior side of a shoulder part 51 of the tire 50. A signal on the electromagnetic wave from the sensor 11 is detected with the Barkhausen noise superposed thereon. In measuring the tire deformation amount from data on the Barkhausen noise extracted from the signal, the extracted Barkhausen noise is frequency-analyzed to find its frequency spectrum while calculating a higher-harmonic output of the frequency spectrum on each of a case where a stress acts on the sensor 11 and a case where no stress acts thereon. The sizes of the higher-harmonic outputs are compared with each other, thereby estimating the deformation amount of a shoulder part 51 of the tire 50. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
