摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound which can activate the target gene transcription activity of a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR), namely can reinforce the transcription-activating ability of the PPAR, and to provide a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor transcription-activating agent containing the compound as an active ingredient. <P>SOLUTION: This peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor transcription-activating agent contains a substituted phenylpropionic acid derivative represented by the general formula (1) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt or their hydrates as an active ingredient. Therein, R1 is trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, or phenoxy which is not substituted or may be substituted; R2 is a halogen atom; R3 is a 1 to 3C lower alkoxy; R4 is a 1 to 6C lower alkyl; X is -CH<SB>2</SB>NHCO- or -CONHCH<SB>2</SB>-. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
