<p>Disclosed is a catalyst structure (21) which enables to stably obtain a carbon nanotube having a desired shape and a long fiber length at high purity. Also disclosed is a method for producing a carbon nanotube (24) using the catalyst structure (21). The catalyst structure (21) is used for producing a carbon nanotube by vapor growth of a carbon crystal, and has a crystal growth surface (22) wherein the catalyst material is formed into a ring shape or a spiral shape. A method for producing a carbon nanotube (24) uses such a catalyst structure (21). The catalyst structure (21) is a columnar body having the crystal growth surface (22) as the upper surface, and at least a part of the lateral surface of the columnar body may preferably be composed of a non-catalytic material which substantially has no catalytic action on growth of the carbon crystal. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007</p> |
