PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for imparting corrosion resistance to aluminum or an aluminum alloy where a barrier type anodized coating for imparting corrosion resistance to aluminum or an aluminum alloy is made dense, thus forming excellent gas discharge properties. SOLUTION: The surface of aluminum or an aluminum alloy is subjected to oxidation treatment with ozone, so as to form a dense oxide layer with a thickness of 5 to 20 nm, and the formed oxide layer is subjected to barrier type anodization.
