The variable restricting component (33) for a hydraulic operating unit includes a valve element (52) installed inside a fluid passage (27) extending through a housing (40). In the case of a temperature change, the valve element automatically executes a shape and position change for local influencing of the cross section of the fluid passage and therefore can counteract a quantity change of a fluid volume flow as a result of a fluid viscosity change induced by a temperature change. An independent claim is included for a hydraulic operating unit of a motor vehicle, especially for a clutch, which includes the aforesaid variable restricting component.
