An intermediate support for an elongate safety member comprises first and second helical shells (1, 13). The first helical shell (1) is formed from strip material and has a space between adjacent turns of the helix of substantially the same dimension as the width of the strip and at least as great as a dimension of the elongate member to be supported. The second helical shell (13) is also formed from strip material and extends between adjacent turns of the first helical shell. Securing means (3, 15) is provided for securing the first and second helical shells to a supporting structure. |
