A semiconductor memory device and a method for resetting an input/output line thereof are provided to prevent unnecessary current consumption by blocking switching operation of unselected input/output switches. In a semiconductor memory device having unit cell blocks in row and column direction, a first input/output line(SIO,SIOB) is formed in a unit of at least one pair along each interval of the row direction. A second input/output line(LIO,LIOB) is formed in a unit of at least one pair along each interval of the column direction. An input/output switching unit(11) is connected to a first node group and a second node group in order to control data input/output of the first and second input/output lines. A reset selection unit(30) selectively outputs a reset signal for input/output switching unit of each line.
