PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stepwise capacity variable device for a scroll compressor enabling optimum operation according to a condition by enlarging variable range of gas compression capacity and facilitating capacity conversion. SOLUTION: The stepwise capacity variable device is provided with a turning scroll 400 provided with a first volume reduction stepped projection 430 formed form an outer end part R1 of a lap 420 over an inside R2 to include predetermined height difference and a second volume reduction stepped projection formed to be extended by a predetermined length from the first volume reduction stepped projection positioned at the outside end part of the lap 420, and a short lap 321 including height difference in a zone of the lap 320 corresponding to the first and the second volume reduction stepped projections of the turning scroll, and includes a fixed scroll 300 engaged with the turning scroll and an opening/closing means opening and closing a passage C formed by the second volume reduction stepped projection of the turning scroll and the short lap including height difference of the fixed scroll.
