PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a plant, capable of achieving various useful results. SOLUTION: This method for treating the plant includes a step for bringing the plant into contact with at least one composition (i) containing at least one cyclopropene and a step for bringing the plant into contact with at least one composition (ii) containing at least one plant growth regulator which does not comprise the cyclopropene. Further, a liquid composition which is suitable for treating the plant is provided, wherein the liquid composition contains at least one of the cyclopropene and at least one of the plant growth regulator which does not comprise the cyclopropene, and further contains one or more components selected from a group consisting of a metal complexing agent, a surfactant, a hydrocarbon oil, and an alcohol.
